Monroe Park

Monroe Park is large and has a huge canopy. It is a centralized location where students interact with the park as well as homeless people and who ever else is passing through. The park is home to some, a shortcut to others, a place for recreation or a place to escape. The gigantic trees that tower over this space are impossible to avoid and there are fountains and statues scattered throughout. I wanted to capture and document the interaction of people who call this space their home. I also wanted to document those that are interacting with the park in any way with an emphasis on canopy and covering and habitat for those who live there. While shooting i came across a man yelling at me from severl yards away to put my camera down. Two mormons came up to me as well and began to talk to me and i was able to capture typical events in the park and a good amount of shots that was a view into what happens eveyday there. My experience shooting is almost the documentation of what i was trying to capture in my photos.

After A Hundred Years Photos

I Choose After A Hundred Years by emily dickinson

After a hundred years

Nobody knows the place,--
Agony, that enacted there,
Motionless as peace.

Weeds triumphant ranged,
Strangers strolled and spelled
At the lone orthography
Of the elder dead.

Winds of summer fields
Recollect the way,--
Instinct picking up the key
Dropped by memory.

After reading this poem i saw that Hollywood Cemetary would be a great place to shoot.
I had never been there so i decided to walk over there but had seen photos and heard about it.
I found many things that i thought were nice illustations of some of the imagery used in the poem.
The poetry is clearly about death and seem to me that it might be a battlefield. I thought that a graveyard
petrained to the imagery as well, lines such as Agony, that enacted there (funerals) and Motionless as peace (grave stones)
winds of summer fields(long field-hills of the cemetary). Another line that applied to cemetaries was. Strangers strolled and spelled at the lone orthography of the elder dead.
At the cemetary i took images of angel and Mary statues as well as a motionless flag as well as long grassy hills.
Everything that i imagined when i read the poem i tried to document pretty much. In photoshop I used some image manipulation
to the photos. I combined two Mary statue photos i saw as well as playing with saturation and and brightness to help complete images for this poem.

Room

I chose my room to document because its where i live, sleep, think, and design. I like the space because its always very cool and comfortable. I also like how minimalistic it is, I have a white bed spread and very simple colors like beige, white, and black. Its a pretty calm peaceful place and a little bit messy but i try to manage that. Its basically a place that i can retreat to and relax and enjoy.
